Grief: There’s an Oil for that!

By: Jo Ann Paynter

Essential Oils have become “all the rage” right now. Lots of people using them, sharing them and claiming lots of success with them, both financial and personal health. Essential Oils are NOT miracle cures.

What they ARE…Used with a healthy life style, essential oils can help support the immune system, clean a home without toxic chemicals, and help with day to day issues: headache, sinus congestion, pain, and help with a myriad of other areas in one’s life. My husband and I began using oils about two years ago. My husband was wary of the oils when I began using them, but he has become a convert. He has seen how well they affect me, and the differences they have made in my well-being. Again, I say that these are not miracle cures….however, they really do work!!

Among the “oily community”, one of the catch phrases that we hear over and over is “there’s an oil for that!” And it’s true! Someone says they have a headache: “Oh! I have peppermint with me, would you like some?” Yep, there’s an oil for that. Many people I know use Peppermint Oil to help relieve headaches. Personally, I use a combination of oils that I roll on the bottom of my feet to help support my kidneys. Eucalyptus in the diffuser or roll-on helps keep the breathing clear. Lemon in my morning tea helps support my immune system.

Grief is something we all experience, whether it is from the loss of a loved one, or perhaps just the loss of a job. And, yes, there is an oil for that! The one that I think of first is, perhaps, one you will recognize, Frankincense. Frankincense has been used throughout history, even recorded in the Bible, as a sacred oil. It was worth its weight in gold at one time. It has a powerful and unique aroma which enters the limbic system through inhalation. The limbic system controls all other systems, so as the oil is inhaled, it stimulates the emotional response we need to deal with grief of any sort, or emotional trauma. Dealing with grief can include prayer, meditation, and introspection in whatever form and manner one finds the most suitable. Frankincense essential oil has an earthy, uplifting aroma that’s perfect for grounding and spiritual connectedness. Create a safe and comforting environment when you diffuse or inhale this empowering oil—a perfect opportunity to collect your thoughts. When you seek purpose or engage in prayer or meditation, use this oil to enhance your experience. It’s no surprise that Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) has been sought after since ancient times. The complex aroma of this oil can elevate many aspects of your life. Diffuse Young Living Frankincense oil to refine your sense of purpose.”
