Over the last month, you may have noticed that we have not published much. Unfortunately, illness has hit both of our houses.
Health is number one – if you don’t have it you don’t have much quality of life. We have been reminded of this and unable to show up here at Torn in Half like we had planned. We didn’t get to our bargaining stories to share with you or even meet. We talked and chatted but, were both too ill to really show up.
Fortunately, we both know the importance of taking care of ourselves. We’ve done push through it and force it, caffeinate through it, ignore it in the past. This doesn’t work and results in more stress and illness. Thus, we have had to take a step back and listen to our doctors, those around us and to our own bodies.
Jeni – I spent most of August in the hospital and all of September recovering. Fortunately, Teresa was able to cover the site during most of this time until her illness stepped in. Presently, I am doing ok and I am moving toward better health.
Teresa – I suffer from an autoimmune disease – psoriatic arthritis and have for years. I started having some additional issues with pain and psoriasis breakouts in August. I didn’t think too much about it and just took some over the counter pain meds. However, in late August I started getting much sicker, fatigued and unable to function well. I have spent September going to numerous doctors, getting bloodwork & tests run and still no firm diagnosis or solution. I’ve been resting and taking care of myself. I’m slowly recovering- I hope. Not 100% and praying for health.
It is our plan to continue to practice self care and to write more as we are able. We plan to try to publish the next blog in our series about Let’s Talk About Grief – bargaining by the end of this month and then move forward from there. We appreciate all of you who watch/read our blog and wanted to let you know that we have not forgotten about our work. We have just had to step back and practice what we preach….taking care of ourselves before we take care of everything else.
Prayers for your health and wellness. Remember, even in your busiest moments that it is important to listen to what your body tells you. As we have rediscovered in the past few months, your body can make you stop and listen if you do not pay attention. Practice self care and take care of you as you take care of whatever is in your life.
Much Blessings & Peace in Your Journey.
