If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you know that we believe in the power of shared experience. While we know that grief is deeply personal, we also know that there’s something profoundly healing about connecting with others who understand what it means to lose a spouse. That connection—our shared journey—is at the heart of everything we do here.
When we speak about grief, we often refer to the journey. We speak to the fact that we all travel different journeys as we heal from our losses. Part of this blog is sharing parts of the journey and to provide resources for healing and developing a community.
Today, we are opening a new curtain and letting you into a new part of our journey. Jeni has been pursuing her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree and has chosen to focus her dissertation on widows who use their grief journeys to become leaders and help others in the healing process. As you are aware, this is a deeply personal cause for us and we are hoping that this research will begin new conversations in the grief world.
But this journey isn’t just Jeni’s—it’s ours. And that’s why we (Jeni and Teresa) want to bring you along as we explore this important work and how it intersects with the widow journey and providing resources for you.
As we dive into this research, our blog will be taking a slightly different direction. We’ll still be sharing the raw, honest reflections that have always been part of our story, but we’re also weaving in insights from Jeni’s study and may take a deeper look at how grief can shape purpose.
We look forward to sharing articles around:
🔹 Defining and exploring grief, bereavement and other terms for deeper understanding
🔹 The different ways widows find meaning after loss
🔹 How helping others can contribute to personal healing
🔹 The emotional challenges of supporting others while still grieving
🔹 The power of community, shared wisdom, and storytelling
🔹 Strategies for navigating the emotional ups and downs of grief work
Think of this as an opportunity for all of us to learn and grow together. This isn’t just about research—it’s about understanding grief on a deeper level and finding strength in how we move forward.
We Want to Hear from You
Since this research is based on the lived experiences of widows, your voice matters. Have you found healing by helping others? Have you struggled to balance your own grief while supporting someone else? We would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Contact us here.
This blog is evolving, but one thing will always remain the same: We are here for you. As we walk this journey, we hope this new direction will bring even more connection, understanding, and hope.
Peace & blessings to you.
Teresa & Jeni
